About Michigan Over Fifty

A social magazine and community for Michiganders 50 and over. Local stories, events, community rooms, games, local businesses and people worth knowing. Dating is here for those who want it — it isn’t what this place is about.

The short version

  • Michigan only

Monroe to Marquette. Everyone here lives in this state.

  • Age 50 and over

That is the whole membership. No one younger joins.

  • Conversation is free

Sending and replying to messages costs nothing and never will.

  • Read by a person

Every profile is reviewed before it appears. You can block and report anyone.

  • More than dating

Stories, events, rooms, games and friendship come first. Dating is one option inside Meet People.

  • Paid for locally

Michigan businesses support us. They are labelled plainly and never see your details.

How joining works

  1. 1. Join with your email

You tell us your date of birth and the Michigan city and county you live in. You must be 50 or over and living in Michigan.

  2. 2. Fill in your profile

A photo, a headline, a little about you, and what you are here for — friendship, an activity partner, company, or dating if you want it.

  3. 3. A person reads it

A steward reads every profile before it goes live. While you wait, your profile stays private and nobody can see or message you.

  4. 4. You're in

Browse other approved members, join the community rooms, read the magazine, come to events, and message anyone — free, always.

What we check, plainly

A steward reads your profile and photo and confirms your email address. We do not check government documents and we do not run background checks, so please still use ordinary good sense: meet in public, take your time, and tell us if something feels wrong.

Who is behind it

Michigan Over Fifty is run by a small team of stewards here in Michigan who read every profile and every report by hand. It is a young community and growing carefully on purpose.
